Calculating Percent Yield in Chemistry
Calculating Percent Yield in ChemistryCalculating percent yield in chemistry is the process of determining the mass ratio of two molecules. It involves the use of mass units such as grams, liters and kilograms in analyzing certain chemical mixtures. The purpose of this is to determine the molecular masses that will give a specific reaction mixture that will yield the desired result.Comparing one percent yield with another or a comparable reaction is a common way to determine whether a reaction yields a product that is the desired one. This can be done by determining the mass ratio of the two molecules. It is also used in pharmaceutical chemistry to compare the molecular masses to see if the target mass is within the permissible concentration.Knowing the molecular mass ratio of two molecules of the same chemical is also useful for simple comparisons. In the case of tests for firefighting applications, the molecular mass may need to be compared to determine if a batch of water containi ng oil is sufficient to extinguish a burning building. These mass ratios are also commonly used to determine the proper concentration of disinfectants for domestic applications such as washing clothes, swimming pools, etc. Such a compound needs to be made up of the correct concentration of the chemical. The molecular mass ratio are essential tools in the laboratory because it is the mass ratio that provides the capacity to perform calculations on the reactions. These calculations will give a comprehensive overview of the reaction. Calculating percent yield in chemistry is really the most important step in doing reactions since all other steps are dependent on it.The mass ratio of the two molecules is usually calculated using formulas based on a mole fraction of the compounds. To compute a mass ratio, you divide the total mass of the two molecules by the sum of their masses. This gives the fractional mass ratio.Toget an exact calculation of the mass ratio, you need to use formulas tha t have been derived from the unit's theoretical value. The formula that you use will depend on the chemical to be studied and the expected reaction products. Mass ratios are calculated based on atomic weight, molecular weight, etc. The formula is usually dependent on the chemical being studied and the molar concentration. If the reaction is intended to burn the polymer (polyester) of the polymerase enzyme, you can use the formula for calculating the mass ratio of a molecule of polyester to the molecular mass of the enzyme. Using this method, it will provide an accurate estimate of the size of the polymerization zone and the formation of ice and thus delay the polymerization reaction.

English Idioms related to Dreams - English Lesson via Skype
English Idioms related to Dreams - English Lesson via Skype Here you will learn useful English idioms related to dreams. You will also learn the meaning of DREAM ON English expression. Scroll down to watch a short video lesson. English Idioms about Dreams We all have dreams. Some come true and someWell, they just remain as dreams. Here are some English idioms related to dreams with an appropriate explanation.More often than not (on a regular basis) we dream at night while we are asleep but sometimes, time permitting, we might look out of the window or stare into space (focus on one thing) and daydream. English Idioms related to Dreams BEYOND YOUR WILDEST DREAMS This occurs when something you wished for actually comes true but in an even bigger or better way than you could have possibly imagined.Example: David was good at football infact very good. He hoped that one day he might in fact be a professional player. Out of the blue he got a letter inviting him for a trial with one of the biggest teams in the country it was more than he could wished for. It was beyond his wildest dreams.A DREAM COME TRUEAs indicated we all or most of us dream. Sometimes they become reality and when they do we will often be heard saying ah it is like a dream come true. Something that someone has required or attained after a long time.Example: Sara retired early from her work as a teacher as she wanted time to travel and see the world. Imagine her surprise when she logged on to the internet and saw an offer to travel around the world with a family and teach the children as they travelled. For her it was a dream come true. She would be ab le to travel and get paid at the same time. English Idioms related to Dreams WORKS LIKE A DREAMWhen something may be broken and in need of repair you are very surprised and delighted that it then works better than ever once the repair has been carried out.Example: Fiona was delighted when her favourite watch was repaired. Her boyfriend asked her how it was now that it had been repaired. Its perfect she replied. It works like a dream.Of course dreams may not always turn into reality and we can also use some English idioms related to dreams in a less than positive way:DREAM ON!We use this idiom when we might wish to bring someone back down to earth. Young people dream a lot and have very high expectations. So when they perhaps are dreaming a little too much we might tell them it is unlikely to happen and that they should dream on!.Example: Maryâs son had dreams of playing for Real Madrid, driving a Ferrari car and living in a mansion. Mary admired his ambition but it was all a bit of fantasy. When he spoke about it as he often did she would keep his feet on t he groundby saying but you donât play for a team now and you cannot speak Spanish! Dream on, its never going to happen. DREAM ON Meaning IN YOUR DREAMS! Similar to dream on we often use this phrase to burst someoneâs balloon. This usually happens when someone is really dreaming about something that is very unlikely to happen if in fact at all.Example: John dreamt* about winning the Lotto buying an expensive car retiring from work and living a life of luxury. His wife was a little more practicaland reminded him that the odds of winning the Lotto were something like 4 million to 1, almost impossible. 8tracks The Moodiest Music Site on the Web
8tracks The Moodiest Music Site on the Web Photo from theletter.co.uk Welcome to 8tracks. The self-proclaimed [h]andcrafted internet radio site, named the Best Website of 2011 by Time Magazine, uses a tagging system for its user-created playlists. When you search for that summer + hipster mix, every playlist that has been tagged with those two words will come up. Each mix has at least 8 tracks to it, but can have many more than that, and will always have a wide variety of music on each. On 8tracks, users can listen to or create mixes. It is great for sharing mixes with your friends, but also with perfect strangers. If youve created a study mix that works well for you, post it to 8tracks and let it help someone else in their study-stress! Not in the mood? Search for an artist or genre and let 8tracks work its magic. Though 8tracks doesnt always offer the perfect selection of music, because, of course, we all have different tastes from one another, its fairly spot on most of the time. My only complaints would be that as a listener, you cannot skip more than 3 songs per mix in one hour before having to go to the next one and you cannot go back to a song after its played. Some of the mixtape art is a little risqué as well, so in a more professional setting, its hard to find mixes to listen to. Thankfully, there is a setting that you can put on called Safe Browse that will skip over tracks and playlists that are inappropriate. Other great features include the Youtube and iTunes buttons on the bottom of each mix. If youve found a new song that you really like, you can find where to buy it or listen to it again on using these links. Want to take 8tracks on the go? There are free Android and iPhone apps available, which have both had recent updates with great reviews. For those of you who are looking for more out of this site (mostly just DJs) there is 8tracks plus. This upgraded version of the site includes an ad-free site and several DJ-focused features that are to be released soon. The cost is $25 for a 6-month subscription and 14-free trial. I wouldnt say its worth it, because unlike Pandora, the ads are simply non-audio sidebars, so for a regular listener, the upgraded version does not offer much. Simply listen away with the free version! What moods do you use 8tracks for?

Edukwest Talking with Kirsten Winkler about italki
Edukwest Talking with Kirsten Winkler about italki If you dont know who Kirsten Winkler is, you really should. She is a professional language teacher who has become an expert in the field of online language education. Between her blog and her E-Teachers Academy and conferences, I think there are few people who understand the evolving space of online language education as well as she does. You could say Kirsten is the equivalent of techcrunch for online language learning. One of her main projects is called Edukwest, and she has been interviewing a lot of inspiring people in the online language learning space. She asked to interview us at italki, and we gladly took the opportunity. Heres the direct page to the interview http://www.edukwest.com/kevin-chen-of-italki-com/ And heres that interview embedded (youll need a proxy to view it if youre in China): We covered a lot of topics in the interview, and one thing we hope that is clear is that it is an exciting time to be a startup in this area. The technology and the market is evolving very quickly, and were only just seeing the start of these new and potentially world-changing ideas. I believe everyone shares this core belief that technology can play a critical role in improving the old way of language learning. The impressive thing about Kirsten is that she has actually met and interviewed a lot of these people! Again, if you want to know all the latest news, as well as engage in the latest debates about online language education, read Kirstens blog or follow her on twitter (@kirstenwinkler). What Its Like Being Happy
What It's Like Being Happy Photo by natalieecollins via Instagram. My friends, family, random acquaintances, and even those Iâm not particularly fond of are able to tell. They know that Iâm happy. Some of them say that theyâre genuinely excited for me, when I know that theyâre not. Several seem almost mad about it. Thatâs jealously and selfishness, and you canât really expect more from people, Iâm afraid. Some could care less. Others seem legitimately pleased and tell me things like âIf anyone deserves this, itâs youâ, or âIâm so glad things are finally turning around for youâ. I like when theyâre able to feel happy from my happiness. Genuine happiness canât be taken away from you either; you can only spread the disease to more and more people. I canât even begin to describe you what happiness has done for my overall health. My long list of prescriptions is starting to dwindle down; youâre more likely to find me outside in the sun than in bed hiding under my covers; I notice myself being comfortable with complete strangers, and because of this, Iâve made more friends in a few weeks then I did in a whole semester. Iâm a more thoughtful and compassionate person, acquaintance, best friend, sister, daughter than usual. Instead of being consumed with my struggles and shortcomings, I try to help others see the brighter side of their own. Iâm basically Mother Teresa these days. Your question is probably the same as mine â" how the hell did this happen? How can I achieve this blissful emotion you speak of? I wish I knew the answer. Part of me believes in karma, not that Iâve had a particularly tragic life thatâs rewarded me with this period of peace. Another part of me thinks that whatever medication Iâm on is really working this time. The spiritual side of me has determined that Iâve always been happy, and it just took a bit of digging and uncovering to find it. Whatever the case may be, the whole of me knows that if this isnât nice, I donât know what is.
5 Ways to Keep Self-Esteem High During Summer School
5 Ways to Keep Self-Esteem High During Summer School Costa Mesa Tutor Tips: 5 Ways to Keep Self-Esteem High During Summer School Many children can benefit from an academically focused summer school program that will make their overall educational experience easier and more productive. Unfortunately, most children dont see summer school as a benefit. Rather, they see it as something they have to do because they didnt receive passing grades during the year. There are several things parents and teachers can do to help younger kids keep their self-esteem high while they attend a summer school program. Of course, every child is unique, and their situations will vary from that of their peers and neighbors, but there are several positive things about summer school in general. 1. Become an expert Kids who fell behind in a difficult subject during the school year may not be feeling great about their abilities to become an expert. However, participating in a summer school program can help kids improve in that same subject during the next school year. Summer school provides an opportunity for kids to focus on just that one subject that gave them trouble so they can overcome any content or study skills issues. Once students have a chance to understand truly whats going on with reading, math, or any other challenging subject their self-esteem is likely to get higher (READ: 10 reasons you need a summer tutor). 2. Leave academic struggles behind In many cases, children attend summer school because they are having some overall academic struggles as opposed to difficulty in a specific subject. If this is the case, the summer school instructor may focus on study skills and organization across all topics. Kids dont get a chance to take a class in study skills but are expected to master these things on their own. This can make it very difficult for kids with any concentration or motivation issue to ace every class. Academic summer programs provide a great opportunity for kids to work with a dedicated teacher and develop some study skills that work for them as an individual. 3. Work with a private Costa Mesa tutor in a one-on-one setting Another thing students can do to help keep their self-esteem high during summer school is to work one-on-one with a private tutor. Many kids struggle with either reading or math and need a little bit of extra help. A private tutor can serve as an excellent supplement to a summer school program because they can provide useful repetition of a challenging subject and introduce new concepts at a pace that works for the student. When a student isnt overly stressed out about a particular subject theyre more likely to feel great about the subject and school in general. 4. Allow time for fun activities Many kids dont like summer school because they think it will take time away from fun activities and time with friends. If a child can benefit from summer school, they should attend, but they should also have plenty of fun activities scheduled, so they dont miss out on some relaxation and outdoor time. If kids know that theyre going to have plenty of time to have fun with friends in the neighborhood they will be more likely to give summer school a chance and concentrate on improving their academic skills. 5. Prevent isolation A lot of the time, students feel isolated if they have to attend summer school. However, there are tons of kids attending summer academic programs these days. With increased competition, many students simply attend summer school to get ahead. They may want to apply for a scholarship later on or participate in academic competitions. If children know that there are tons of students attending summer programs, they are less likely to feel isolated. As long as theyre part of a group, summer school wont seem so bad (READ: 5 Reasons to get an in-home tutor this summer).
